Wildwood Basketry Guild has about 40 current members. We meet each month, on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at Wildwood Cultural Center, 7645 Little Mountain Road, Mentor, OH 44060. The Guild was formed to help stimulate an interest in the art of basketry. In holding to its mission we often have weaving projects at our monthly meetings, put on Winterweave™ each February and during the remainder of the year hold workshops.
Wildwood Cultural Center, a renovated English Tudor mansion, once the home of Pres. Garfield’s son, with its beautiful grounds and cozy classrooms offers the perfect setting for our meetings and especially for Winter Weave.
Non-Members are welcome to participate in upcoming workshops with guest instructors where we make a variety of baskets in many styles, such as Nantuckets, ribbed baskets, and bark weavings. We try to arrange many weaving sessions to learn various styles of baskets as well as using new and different materials.

I have been a member of WBG for several years now. I was introduced to basket weaving through Girls Scouts as a child. Also, making handmade Christmas gifts was a tradition in my family, so my sisters and I sometimes wove baskets for these gifts. I had not woven a basket in a very long time, and was reintroduced to this art when I was visiting a friend’s house, a WBG member, and saw many baskets that she had made by attending annual WBG Winterweave conferences. Following that house visit, I attended one day of the next Winterweave conference, and have attended every Winterweave conference ever since. One day is not enough for me anymore. There are so many baskets to choose from and so much fun!!!! The best way to enjoy this conference is to come all three days…….and even then it is hard to pick which basket to make each day!

Hi, I’m currently living in Japan and plan to visit family in the states this summer. I like weaving baskets and am looking for a class for me to join around 1st or 2nd week of Aug.2012. Our family lives in western NY, closer place would be better but any information will be appreciated!
